Improvement works

You may be aware of some essential improvement works which are taking place over the next few months at Bourne Hall. We are replacing the windows at the venue, which are old and outdated, with new double-glazed windows.

Enabling works will begin shortly and the windows will be replaced in a few months.

This is a big project and there may be some disruption to Bourne Hall’s usual services while the works are taking place. We know this may be inconvenient and we sincerely apologise for any disruption the works may cause you.

Replacing the windows at Bourne Hall is part of a planned programme of measures to reduce our carbon footprint at Bourne Hall and improve the venue’s energy efficiency. This is part of our Climate Change Action Plan, which sets an ambitious target for the council to be carbon neutral by 2035: but it will also ensure that Bourne Hall, which an important hub for our local community and a historical landmark, is a sustainable venue which can be used, and loved, by future generations.

We are passionate about the council’s Climate Change Action Plan, and we take our responsibility to help implement those goals very seriously. We recently installed solar panels on the roof of Bourne Hall (Epsom & Ewell Borough Council making Bourne Hall energy efficient as part of its Climate Change Action Plan | Epsom and Ewell Borough Council) which will generate 45,000 kWh of electricity, covering 25% of Bourne Hall’s electricity usage, and saving more than 9 tonnes of carbon each year. The panels will save Bourne Hall around £15,000 annually in costs which can then be invested back into services for the community.  Overall, changes and initiatives over the last four years has seen our operational carbon footprint reduce by 14% since we first began to measure it in 2019.

We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for your patience while we make these changes to the venue.
